As part of our drive to maintain, promote and engage pupil interest in reading, the school is having a WORLD BOOK day on Thursday 5th March.
On this special day, your child can come to school dressed as a favourite character from any book. If you do not want to organise an entire costume or if your child would prefer, there is the option of just decorating an old t-shirt to represent their favourite character or book cover.
Book Week
During the following week (Monday 9th March- Friday 13th March), the children will be participating in lots of exciting activities:
Books at Bedtime- Wednesday 11th March (more information to follow).
Extreme Reading Competition- photograph your children reading in extreme places – send the photos into school – the most obscure reading positions get a prize. Entries must be in by Thursday 12th March.
Book Fair
The book fair will be available for classes to browse Monday 9th March. Children can buy books from the fair from 3:15pm, once collected, from Monday 9th – Friday 13th (in the new build). There will be lots of great titles with prices starting from £2.99. World book day £1 vouchers can be used on all books (books only) at the fair. You will also have the opportunity to purchase gift vouchers online for the book fair. By buying vouchers in advance you will save 20% on book fair books. So, if you buy a £5 voucher you will get £6 to spend, buy a £25 voucher and you will get £30 to spend (other amounts available). If this is something you would like to do, please order your vouchers here: www.bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/gift-vouchers and bring a print out of your voucher to the book fair.
We are very much looking forward to celebrating books and reading over these dates and, as always, thank you for your support.
